Our curriculum is designed with a spiral approach, where techniques and concepts are revisited and built upon at various points in the learning journey to reinforce understanding and facilitate deeper and more complex application.   Our curriculum is broken down into exciting and easy to access three-month sessions.   You can read more details about our style and curriculum here.

Our Karate Basics classes are geared towards children ages 5-12.  The age ranges in our intermediate and advanced classes grow with our students.

Absolutely!  We encourage all interested students to take advantage of our free trial class before signing up for a session.  You can fill out this contact form on this page and we will set you up for a free, individual trial class.

In our private trial class, instructor, students, and parents will have a chance to meet each other and ask questions.  Then, we will check our audio and video set-ups to ensure that we can see and hear each other well, and make sure that the student has a small, open space to practice in.

Next, we will go through a "mini" karate class that mirrors our regular classes.  Classes will include some basic karate positions and words (attention, bowing, ready, etc), a warm-up, direct instruction of a few basic techniques, and a game.  

Students do not need any prior karate knowledge or experience, and should wear comfortable clothing and be barefoot.

Class times and session dates can be found here.  Once you fill out the enrollment/registration form, we will contact you to complete payment for the session.  Your spot will be fully reserved once your enrollment is completed with payment for the first month.

One you are an enrolled student, tuition payment occurs automatically each month (no need to re-enroll each quarter) unless you need us to pause or change your payment.

Payment for the session is due on the first of each month.  We utilize an invoicing service, and automatic monthly payments will be pulled monthly once set up via Stripe, through an initial invoice that comes to your inbox.

Teaching in sessions allows us to break down the big goal of black belt into easily learned and concrete, achievable chunks for students.  Students in each session all start and end the session together, which helps keep instruction seamless so all students can progress through skills and concepts together.  It also helps our students to support each other and form friendships through consistent training and playing together.  Once a student is enrolled, their membership rolls over to each subsequent quarter, so there is no need to re-enroll each quarter.

YES!  We are passionate about giving all students access to the exciting journey to black belt.  Students not only strengthen their bodies by learning this special art, but they grow mentally, emotionally, and in character: benefits that will positively impact a student throughout their whole life. 

Many students are not able to access in-person training for health and/or location constraints, and training virtually can give these students access to the amazing benefits of karate- right in their living rooms. 

1. Most importantly: Yourself, and an openness to learn, have fun, and make friends!

2. A small space with a clear floor to practice in, and ability to connect to a Zoom class with video and audio.

3. A karate uniform- this is purchased from a third party vendor; we can make some recommendations. 

4. Belts will need to be purchased by families (also through a third party vendor), roughly every three months.  There are no testing fees.

5. Intermediate students will need a pair of kamas, and a bo staff, depending on the session.  We can make some budget recommendations for these items.

6. Advanced students will need hand and foot pads, and either a standing/hanging bag, or someone in the household to occasionally hold hand targets and a body shield.

7. From intermediate on up, a full length body mirror is recommended for practice at home.

We are honored to be the martial arts school for your family!  At Ignite Karate, we offer 1/3 off tuition for an enrolled sibling.  

Furthermore, our sister school, Ignite Capoeira, teaches 100% live and virtual capoeira.  Dual-enrolled students (students who are enrolled both in Ignite Karate and Ignite Capoeira) get 25% off their karate program! 

Families who have a member enrolled in capoeira and a member enrolled in karate receive the family discount on the karate membership.
