Our Mission
Ignite Karate Virtual Academy is committed to providing a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for students to learn and grow. Our mission is to empower our students with the skills and confidence they need to reach their full potential, both in and out of the dojo- while having fun together!
Importantly, our classes are built specifically for the virtual learner; we are able to provide high quality instruction with an emphasis on equity and accessibility.

Collaboration & Support
At Ignite Karate Virtual Academy, we believe that karate is about more than just punching and kicking. We foster a sense of collaboration and co-responsibility in each student's training. The journey to black belt is challenging and rewarding. We take time to support, encourage, and provide individual feedback to each student along the journey.
Importantly, students also take an active role in their own goal setting and progress. Students are provided with multiple opportunities to celebrate their growth and reflect on their progress, through promotion events, reflection worksheets, and at a higher rank, one-on-one check-ins.

Our Curriculum
Our curriculum is designed with a spiral approach, where techniques and concepts are revisited and built upon at various points in the learning journey to reinforce understanding and facilitate deeper and more complex application.
A typical student spends 3 months in our Karate Basics, two years (two cycles) as an Intermediate Karate student, and two years as an Advanced Karate student, and then culminates their training in the testing for and earning of their black belt.
Our curriculum is broken down into exciting and easy to access three-month sessions. Because our curriculum is backwards-designed from black belt, students are learning everything they need to know and eventually master, in smaller, achievable chunks or sessions along the way.
