Students test every 3 months (4 times/year).  When students reach the two belts prior to black belt, these promotion timings are individual to each student, but typically would take 6 months as students do several smaller preparatory check-ins in the final year leading up to the Black Belt Promotion.  Promotions are earned through regular class attendance, attitude, effort, and growth over time.  Our promotions are not "tests", but rather celebrations that spotlight our students' achievements, hard-work, and growth.  These special events help foster a sense of self-esteem in our students, as their accomplishments and progress are recognized and celebrated.
