Learn how to tie your karate belts! All of our karate belts have value and we earn them through our efforts and good attitudes in class and our lives at home. White belts earn their karate belts on their second week of classes, and our other students earn a new karate belt at the end of each quarter.
Our roots at Ignite Karate are in Japanese Karate and Korean Taekwondo, and we pay homage to our roots by using both Korean and Japanese terminology in our classes.
Our four basic commands for "Attention", "Bow", "Ready" and "At Ease" are in Korean. Learn them here with Sensei Jenny!
Our "Fighting Stance" is our basic stance, from which we practice our "Karate Basics"- basic strikes and kicks that provide the foundation for our self-defense movements and sparring techniques.
We spend many classes working through this stance with small steps and fun games in our Karate Basics class, as we will utilize this stance frequently throughout our training.
Back Stance and Front Stance are two of our most important stances for traditional karate sequences- also called "forms". Doing our stances properly sets us up for powerful and accurate strikes and blocks.
We spend many classes working through these stances with small steps and fun games, and will use these stances in all of our karate forms.
